At Pende Aesthetics we spent the autumn months of 2021 designing and synthesising a range of novel skin treatments which were announced and released across December in the days leading up to Christmas. Our pride and quite literally glittering glory is the Gold Skin Rejuvenation Package that has been painstakingly refined to offer a wealth of potential benefits when treating an array of afflicting skin conditions. We have deliberated to mutually incorporate gold flecks alongside colloidal gold within the package; with the intention that the former will visibly improve circulation by warming the skin while in the latter gold nanoparticles are suspended in liquid for such particulates to penetrate deeply.

Really, a Gold Facial? What is it?

We have developed the Gold Skin Rejuvenation package to incorporate a colloidal and particulate gold serum infused with a multitude of active ingredients to be employed alongside a restorative gold mask. One can expect visually that as a result of the minute nanoparticles in colloidal gold, one’s skin will exhibit a noticeable shimmer and glow as the nanoparticles are absorbed into the skin imparting a brighter and more radiant appearance. The ions present stimulate the cells, nerves, and veins of the body to improve one’s overall blood circulation. This will increase the cellular metabolism of the skin while promoting the secretion of the waste. Additionally, gold has been proven to slow down collagen depletion and also aids in hydration to maintain the skin’s moisture level, making skin physically healthier and outwardly fresher.

We structure our package to advise following a course of treatments to witness the optimal benefit. However, treatments can be performed in isolation particularly when addressing other aggravating skin conditions like acne or rosacea.

Benefits

Gold has a host of skin-improving benefits:

1. Gold particles have been shown to have antioxidant properties.

  • An antioxidant agent acts against the harmful effects of free radicals, meaning that gold nanoparticles can be advantageous in protecting the skin’s surface from damage caused by free radicals. One should note that oxidative stress plays a major role in the etiology of numerous skin conditions, leading to chronic inflammation, which, in turn, can cause collagen fragmentation and disorganisation of collagen fibers and skin cell functions thus contributing to skin diseases including in extreme cases cancer. Free radicals are highly unstable molecules that can be formed by environmental aggrevators including exposure to UV rays, smoke and other pollutants. Consequently, this can result in premature signs of ageing. Furthermore, it has been established that antioxidants including vitamin C are able to neutralise such naturally occurring free radicals in order to treat sun damage, skin ageing, and inflammatory skin conditions like acne and psoriasis, making gold your new best defence mechanism.

2. Anti-Ageing and Revitilsing Results

  • Our Gold Skin Package has been specially selected and formulated to include a potent blend of active ingredients including peptides, hylauroinic acid, alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) and glycerin which coupled with colloidal gold synthesise a firming effect and and improve your skin barrier function to lock in moisture and protect against irritants. Clients have also noted an improvement in skin elasticity and all essential hydration to decrease the appearance of wrinkles, regardless of age.

3. Barrier to External Influences

  •  Regardless of whether you are situated in an urban or rural repository, daily pollutants ensnare us and exacerbate environmental skin ageing, damaging overall skin health. Gold has been shown to provide a physical shield to shelter our skin from such exposure, and support collagen formation in the process.

4. Anti-Inflammatory Effects

  • Numerous skin conditions are exacerbated by inflammation including acne and rosacea. The employment of colloidal gold especially makes it an ideal healing treatment for those suffering from acne, hyperpigmentation, sun-damage, or sensitivity. Additionally, the minute nanoparticles in colloidal gold provide skin with a noticeable shimmer and glow to make one's skin appear immediately brighter and more radiant.

History

There is recorded evidence stemming back to 2500 B.C. of the remarkable uses of gold within traditional Chinese, Indian, and Arabic medicine. In fact, a myriad of medieval practitioners supported the belief that the metal possessed some kind of healing properties, and that gold, being “regarded for centuries as the perfect and most precious metal” was a recommended treatment against diseases of the brain and heart. For example, Constantinus Africanus, who lectured at the medical school in Salerno in the eleventh century, gave this opinion:

"Gold is more temperate than the other metals. It has the property of relieving a defective stomach and comforts the fearful and those who suffer from a heart complaint."

One of the earliest medicinal records of the use of gold was discovered in Alexandria, Egypt, where over 5,000 years ago, the Egyptians ingested gold to aspire for a combined mental, physical and spiritual purification. This ancient culture proposed that within the body gold stimulating the so called “life force” and raised the level of vibration.

Notably, evidence has demonstrated that this mysterious metal was employed by Alexandrian Alchemists in an “elixir" made of liquid gold, which they thought represented a perfection of kinds, meaning that its presence in the body should enliven, rejuvenate, and cure a multitude of diseases in individuals exposed to it.

Furthermore, archaeologists have discovered that over 4,500 years ago the Egyptians used gold in dentistry. This innovation has remained favourable even today when approximately 13 tons of gold are used each year for crowns, bridges, inlays and dentures because gold is non-toxic, can be shaped easily, and rarely wears, corrodes or tarnishes.

Colloidal gold is formed from suspending fine particles of gold (with sizes ranging from 1-1 hundred billionths of a meter) in solution, which exhibits an array of remarkable properties on account of the larger surface area available.

In 1857, Michael Faraday first prepared colloidal gold in a pure state, from which time its uses have expanded drastically. Today, medical employment of gold is ubiquitous with its benefits within the surgical speciality, being exerted to repair damaged blood vessels, nerves, bones, and membranes. Every day, surgeons use gold instruments when clearing coronary arteries, while gold-coated lasers offer new life to patients plagued with once inoperable heart conditions and tumours. However, gold has additionally been used in the treatment of several forms of cancer for example, by injecting microscopic gold particles prostate cancer has been retarded and diminished in men. Moreover, research has found that women suffering from ovarian cancer when treated with colloidal gold, alongside gold vapour lasers, witness the destruction of cancerous cells without harming healthy neighbouring cells.

According to many studies, colloidal gold increases mental acuity and the ability to concentrate. Colloidal gold is believed to fortify cognitive capabilities by heightening the conductivity between nerve endings in the body and on the surface of the brain. The wealth of healing properties of gold are once again being rediscovered in modern society, leading us all to appreciate that gold is indeed a very precious metal.
