About Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers comprise of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring sugar-based compound found in the skin, which is responsible for delivering and maintaining moisture and nutrient levels in skin cells. Consequently, hyaluronic acid aids in preserving soft, smooth skin in addition to volume by helping to retain water resulting in an overall healthy, hydrated and rejuvenated appearance.

It also assists collagen and elastin organisation underneath the skin which gives the skin a more youthful texture.

With age, the body’s production of hyaluronic acid gradually declines, culminating in visible signs of ageing.

As the skin begins to lose it's youthful and smooth impression, natural lines and wrinkles deepen; lips lose their volume; nasolabial and marionette lines appear more prominent around the mouth and nose area and cheeks lose their fullness giving them a sunken and hollow appearance.

When dermal fillers are injected into fine lines, wrinkles, or sunken areas of the face, they replenish the hyaluronic acid that has been absorbed into the body over time, providing support and structure to the skin, helping to achieve a more youthful appearance.

Dermal Fillers are semi-permanent, manmade and safe, used to create natural looking results which work by mimicking the body’s natural depleted hyaluronic acid.

Which areas can be treated with Dermal Fillers?

  • Nasal labial folds - mouth to nose lines

  • Marionette lines - chin to mouth lines

  • Lip enhancement (to increase volume in the lips and to define the cupid's bow and vermillion border.)

  • Glabeller lines - frown lines

  • Crow's feet - smile lines

  • Forehead Lines

  • Cheeks (to lift, contour and volumise the whole face)

  • Chin and Jaw line (to sculpt and define)

  • Lip Lines -  smoker's lines

Are Dermal Fillers safe?

Dermal Fillers comprise of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance within the human body, therefore reactions to the treatment are rare. There may be mild to moderate swelling following the treatment, most commonly succeeding lip enhancement but this usually subsides within several days. Additionally, there is no required allergy testing because hyaluronic acid is naturally present in skin. Dermal fillers are also suitable for vegans. Overall, there is not usually an imminent risk posed during or following this treatment.

How long do Dermal Fillers last?

Dermal fillers normally display immediate results that will last for between 6 to 12 months and can be topped up when their effects begin to diminish.

During this time, the dermal fillers will naturally dissipate and appearance prior to treatment will eventually resume.

If the client is unhappy in the months following their treatment the dermal fillers can be dissolved to restore their previous image.

How are Dermal Fillers administered ?

Dermal fillers are injected in small doses directly under the surface of the skin of the area being treated using micro-needles.

A topical aesthetic can be administered to the skin prior to injecting the Dermal Filler to reassure and relax the client during the treatment. The procedure usually lasts around 30 minutes, though variations occur depending upon the area and quantity of filler, though the majority of people are able to resume their activities immediately following Dermal Filler application.

Which Dermal Filler do you use?

We use REVOLAX™, a non-animal based hyaluronic acid with high purity, it is a completely natural substance optimised to synchronise with human skin tissue. REVOLAX™ has a unique cross linking technology that does not need free hyaluronic acid to adjust the physical property of its gel formula. REVOLAX™ has a low percentage of product migration, meaning that once injected the product is more likely to stay close to the injection site with accuracy.

We also use Dermal Revolution products, or upon request other brands of dermal filler (e.g. Juverderm) that client's may personally prefer.

The malleable consistency of all of our dermal fillers creates immediate and long lasting volume, this also allows the product to break down evenly with a natural finish.

  • Do not apply make-up or any other cosmetics to the treated area for 6 hours, unless the products are mineral based.
