Anti-Ageing Injections
Anti-ageing injections, more commonly regarded as Botox®, are an anti-wrinkle injection treatment that is commonly used to treat all areas of the face to combat both fine lines and deep wrinkles.
Botulinum Toxin treatments have been used within the aesthetic industry since the late 1980's, revolutionising the industry due to their remarkable results and absence of recovery time.
As we age, the face naturally loses collagen and elasticity causing the skin to look less refined than it once did. When you concentrate, squint or frown, the muscles in your face contract. After years of frequent contraction combined with other environmental and lifestyle factors, lines and wrinkles will form and eventually become permanent.
Botulinum Toxin injections are ideal if you’re over 45 years old and are looking to retain a less tired, and more defined youthful appearance without wanting to resort to more drastic procedures.
Treatment outcomes can be better achieved when used in combination with Dermal Fillers and can be completed within as little as 15 - 30 minutes depending on the desired area.
In order to ensure we achieve the results you desire, we will discuss with you your skin concerns, timings and finances.
Our consultations are no obligation and we aim to help you understand the treatment, its effects and how it works to prevent or improve your fine lines and wrinkles.

Are anti-ageing injectables safe ?
Botulinum Toxin has been FDA approved and used for both medical and aesthetic purposes for over 20 years with no known adverse effects. Like most aesthetic treatments, side effects can occur, some clients may report mild bruising whilst very occasionally few may experience a 'droopy eyelid', though both however can be corrected or will fade in time. The cosmetic use of Botulinium Toxin Type-A to correct fine lines and wrinkles around the upper face is widely accepted as safe, since loss of muscle movement in these areas will solely temporarily interfere with aesthetic appearance. Furthermore, allergic reactions to Botox are very rare. If a client has any concerns following treatment they should not hesitate to contact us in regard to a solution.
How long does do anti-ageing injectables last ?
Everyone is different and therefore the effect varies. Although, typically such effects last 4-6 months for a facial treatment and 6-9 months for excess sweating (hyperhydrosis). It is also important to bear in mind that botulinum toxin can take anything from 2 days up to 2 weeks to work, therefore you will not necessarily notice a difference straight away. It is a non-permanent treatment because after 10-16 weeks the muscles recover.
How are anti-ageing injectables administered ?
The toxin is administered using a microneedle; and as such clients may expierence a very slight scratch as the injections occur. A topical anaesthetic can be applied to the treated area, which significantly reduces the pain associated with the process.
What is the standard aftercare ?
It is normal to experience mild tenderness and swelling at injection sites for a few hours. Occasionally, bruising under the skin may produce a small lump that takes 3-5 days to disappear. Many patients also experience a minor dull ‘headache’ or ‘heavy’ feeling across treated sites for a few days. Following treatment you may continue your day-to-day activities normally. However, it is important to avoid anything strenuous for the first 24 hours such as going to the gym. Side effects are rare, but occasionally some clients experience bruising, but this usually subsides quickly.
Additionally, using high SPF sun cream to protect your skin from sun damage can keep your skin looking younger for longer.
How does the treatment take effect ?
Muscle relaxing injections use the botulinum toxin to block nerve impulses which causes muscle contraction, thereby correcting the inactivation of these small muscles and reducing the ability of these muscles to form wrinkles. This temporary treatment is very popular as relaxants block the nerve impulses that cause muscle contraction providing the appearance of smoother skin.
Is the treatment painful ?
When adminstered to the face the injection may cause mild discomfort but this only lasts for a few minutes. A handfull of patients may experience a headache, or a dull heavy feeling over the eyebrows; this may last from a few minutes to a couple of hours. If this occurs then we suggest taking a paracetamol to relieve the pain. Aspirin and Ibrufen should be avoided as they may cause bleeding and bruising
